1. Wash dishes by hand instead of using the dishwasher. There are only the two of us and not that many dishes to make a load.

2. Drive cautiously instead of aggressively. If I see a lread light ahead, I will cruise instead of stepping on the pedal.

3. Turn off lights when we're not in a room.

4. Use fans instead of air conditioner (AC). If we are using the AC, we'll shut it off when we go out or put in on money saver mode.

LICE...we have had an invasion!!! I knew lice was going around and have been checking my daughters' long hair. I never suspected my son!

My parents opened our home to foster kids when I was a teenager. We did not have a clue about lice then. After the third recurrence we got serious. We did not realize what a monster it was. To be sure you have rid your home you must be serious about "sanitizing" your house. I have found the following protocol to be very successful in ridding your house of lice in one day.

3. Beyond Asian Spices! , by Jessie.
Most of us use spices for flavor or just because the recipe requires that we use it. When I was in Malaysia a couple of years ago, a friend of mine had a collection of food properties which was published in the New Straits Times every Friday. I thought it was worth jotting down the important points. I remember studying in history that the reason the Portuguese went to the Far East in the 1500s was to look for spices. I was amazed that normal spices have such great properties particularly cinnamon and turmeric.
