Why do I blog ?
I thought blogger is one of the coolest men's inventions !! I used to participate in forums and later realised that I have been doing free editing for the owners of the forums. It is not a bad thing in itself but I thought why don't I do my own blogging since I like to write ?
I named this blog Seay's Kopitiam because of a few reasons.
According to Wikepedia, the definition of Kopitiams goes like this - "Kopitiams are the traditional breakfast and coffee shops of Singapore and Malaysia. The word is corrupted from the words coffee and tea. The menus are typically simple offering a variety of foods based on eggs, toast, and kaya, plus coffee, tea, and some sort of hot chocolate."
In a way, it is true, however, in a real Malaysian or Sarawakian sense as I knew, Kopitiam is a place where the locals hang around. It is where gossips take place; information transfer and business transactions take places.
I thought in this e-time we live in , an e-kopitiam would be a time era appropriate place where we hang around cyberly to chit chat, to find information and probably do some business transactions online.
I was born in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. I studied in Sydney , Australia and have lived and travelled in many different countries. Finally, I settle down in the US of A. I married an American from Tennesse; we have a 3 year old son. At the time of writing we reside at Florida, USA.
One of the reasons why I have started this blog is to share and discuss with ya'll (Southerner way of saying all of you) topics close to my hearts. I have invited a few of my friends to be editors on various topics where they are good at and also enjoy doing it. As a team, we have collected information/resources pertaining to investment; homeschooling ; US immigration; US education ; "how to start up a family business" resources and many others. [We are in the midst of editing and it will be ready soon.]
Beside the serious stuff, I have included a section on lighter stuff, chit chat column; and also included our family photos and of course not forgetting our traveling journels for your reading pleasure.
I hope you enjoy our Kopitiam and come and visit when you can.
Mrs Seay on behalf of the Seay family.
