Young Millionaires

Friday, June 22, 2007

Whenever I read news like this, I crunched. I often wonder why it is so common to obtain such kind of success in such young age in America than any other country such as Malaysia.

Is it due to the government policies ? education or culture ?
Are we depriving our young people when we have not even figure this out ? as documented by this blog (a friend in my younger Australia day) or we are setting our priority wrong somewhere ? eg Karen Armstrong on religious diversity in Malaysia ?

The hidden millionaires !!!

Google to buy YouTube in $1.65 billion stock deal

Will he be as successful if he has born in Malaysia. This blog is not mean to undermined Malaysia or its government but to challenge my young readers who reside in M or abroad that what ingredients that are lacking in order for us to have an equal playing field ?

Why we like angmo stuff so much ?

Monday, June 18, 2007

After this post, might be I don't get any Malaysian/Singaporean friend anymore, ha ha ha ha. That is ok. I am a loner most of my life, ha ha ha ha.

I just written abt 10 comments in all Malaysian 'How to make $' blog or tech blog etc... I hatam kuat kuat :).

I have been blogging very heavily the last 1 month, over this 1 month, I have been to a lot of Asian young fellow blog (mostly 20's or early young punks, I would say) about this that about making $. At first, I was very interested to find out what they write. But, I tell you after this 1 month, I lost my interest. Not because I am not interested in making online $ but what I am disappointed or lost my interest is so much info overflow, most people are talking the same thing u can find in other blog. In shot, copy cat ! no creativity at all.

Has our school system destroy the creativity in us ? Can we write a blog without having to link to an American blog, technique , mentor, guru ? Is it that hard to even quote a 'yellow skin' mentor ?

Even though I married an angmo but I don't necessary follow everything angmo ! In Angmo country, they give present, but I give Ang pow. So if they don't like it, tough !!!

Create our own Malaysian search engine (don't name it google the Malaysian way, for Pete sake), create our own guru and don't call Malaysian Rick Warren, aiyo, use a true yellow Malaysian name ! Dr. M will be proud of you :)-

The capitalist land

Saturday, June 16, 2007

My husband and I are very spoiled in term of house chores. We used to have a gal who came clean our house every week until she got married and we have not find anyone suitable; and we always have some one to do our lawn. In the place where we live there are a few guys who do mowing of lawns for people who are lazy like us :). Ha ha ha, not really lah, we have quite a fair size of retiree in our place :), the North birds (retirees from up North).

This guy is very enterprising, in fact, he works for the prison. He started doing the lawn biz with his son on a part time basic (afternoon and Saturday when he is off work). They start with a small push lawn mower then they bought a small disel engine lawn mower ; and now now look what they got now ? A huge John Deere tractor :). John Deere is such an American symbol , like the Marlboro man :)-

And there are other guys who started pressure wash business, they wash the home's siding (wall) for you and the concrete floor at the walkway etc.

And that is why I love America, the land of the capitalist. The sky is your limit.

There are all kind of business under the sun of capitalist land :):). I wonder why the Wuching the so kiasu can die fellow does not want to move here, he does not have to wait till 12midnite lah :)-

And the guy broke our garden pipe :)-

Happy mowing the lawn :)-

Big car big cross

Friday, June 08, 2007

When I first visited US in 1990, I thought wow, most things in US are big. People are big , cars big, huge open air, huge highway, and huge supermarket etc.

Look at this huge limousine and big cross in San Diego :)-

Do you like to share your experience about something or event that is 'big' in US ?

I make some money today

Saturday, May 26, 2007

It has been a long time since I wanted to get ride of these 2 items. Finally I get ride of them today.
Yard sale or garage sale is very popular in America. Someone junks is other treasures. You can find yard sales on Saturday in most cities and suburbs in America. It is one way of getting ride of your junks and make some $.

We bought this small fridge when JJ was born. I store his milk bottle in this fridge in his room so I don't have to go to our kitchen to get it. We bought the fan because we saw one of our neighbor has it. But, it has not been used and I don't see us using it. So, I took these 2 items out about 10am this morning. I sold it in 1/2 hr times later. A neighbor bought it from us for $50 for the 2 items. She got a good deal because the fridge was $80 and the fan was $29. But, I am glad that I made $50 out of them :)-.

Free Cantelope

Wednesday, May 23, 2007

U might wonder what on earth this old lady gonna blog abt free Cantelope ?

Well, there are many shops in America that have very good return policies, some don't even need any receipts, and the best return policy so far that I love the most is Publix store. When the cashier made a mistake on charging you on the item(s) that you purchase, you got a free item.

Well, today, when I went to the store, I saw quite a lot of sales items, one of them is Cantelope and Strawberries. Cantelope 2 for $4 and strawberries 2 for $5. I picked up one each. Well, this is an old habit of mine, reading the receipts before I left the store , just to make sure that I am not being over charge or under charge. And yes, today, the cashier overcharged me for the Cantelope, she charge me $3.49 for my Cantelope. As a stingy old witch, I of course went to the return counter. The young girl told me this Cantelope is bigger and it is $3.49. I said , 'No, Madam, it is 2 for $4, would you like to walk with me to the counter where the Cantelope is ? " She said, 'Sure, Madam.' So we walked there, and of course the old witch is right. The young girl said ' U know Madam, they put the Cantelope at the wrong place, this is bigger Cantelope, it should be in the counter where it said $3.49." I said, 'Ya, that is not my problem.' (your old witch here has become very Americanized :):):)). She said, 'Yes, Madam, u are going to have your Cantelope free'. And she did, she handed me $3.50. And here I am very happy cos I don't think I will ever get such deal in Kuching, aiyo !!!

I want to share with you (on picture only), my free Cantelope, ha ha ha ha ha ha. Notice the small print on the carrying bag said 'Where shopping is a pleasure.' I really agree with its slogan cos it is really a pleasure to shop in Publix if provided you have the $, they even carry your shopping to your car (and u are not supposed to give them any tips) and the best part is your stingy old witch asked them to double bag the purchase, so I can use it for my trash.

Our mentality and theirs are really different, we save every tiny bits :). They gave away the plastic bag in the recycle bins but I use every bag from stores, so I don't have to buy trash bag. Even though the trash bag is very reasonable here like 100 for $2+ but it is still money, right ? Say yes lah, u Malaysian :):):):):)

Unsual scenes

Tuesday, May 22, 2007

For those of you who are my blog kaki would probably knew from the number of pictures I posted that I love to travel.
I like to take pictures of strange or unusual scenery, even if that mean making a U turn back or going back to the previous exit of an highway. [I have a very kind hearted husband and patience too, who can take the crabs from me :)].

When I see this guitar, I thought to myself, only in America :):)

And when I saw these 4 ladies walking down the street at Biloxi city @ Mississippi, I thought wow, how cool can it be to find 4 Asians ladies walking down the street in the deep south. Where were they from ? How long have they been in the US ? Are they lonely here, imagine Biloxi, Mississippi, I bet most of you have not even heard of the name ?
Well, if you know much about Katrina hurricane, Biloxi was one of the cities that was very badly affected.

The bridge was out when we were there. It was terrible, terrible, terrible.

I thought this is one big cactus, we took this picture in the Aloma in St. Antonio, Texas.

Isn't it wonderful to blog, your own space, you can write whatever you want and you can make friends from all over the world. I used to be very active in certain forums, not anymore. With forum, if u write something from the deepest of yr heart, there are going to be some people who don't like it and hatam you left right center. And if you want to bring up certain issues you feel strongly about it, not everyone will see eyes to eyes with you. I bet there are a lot of people who don't like me but still come and spy on my blog. But, I still welcome you to my kopitiam :)-.

What is this ?

Friday, May 18, 2007

Yes, Wuching is right, it is a portable jamban. (Malaysian Americans are not allow to guess, he he he.Only those who reside of US are allowed to guess :)-, he he he.)

My hubby and I are travel bugs:). We decided to go to Asheville on a spur of the moment. We took off on Tuesday and came back on Thursday night cos I need to get back to work (week end shit). We drove miles and miles on Blue Ridge Parkway, we climbed all the way to nearly 5000ft. Along the way, we stopped and 'wee wee' :). The portable jamban was sparkling clean. I was amazed !

I love the 4th picture, this kind of scenery remind me that we human being are so small ! It is an awesome feeling.

These are some of the sceneries along the way.

I think this is a cool clip of the parkway. Enjoy !

Jamban stories

Monday, May 14, 2007

My blog friend Wuching wrote an interesting blog on jamban. After I read it, I thought I will post 2 pics on a jamban that I have taken over our trips.

Have a guess and see if you know where were these jamban photos taken ?
If u guess it right, let me know your address, I will send you a Disney ticket (1day) for one.

Only in America.

Saturday, May 12, 2007

We went for a ride in the country for makan angin. I asked my husband to turn around cos I thought to myself am I seeing something unreal ? He did ; and I came down from the car to take these pictures. The shop is along a country highway, it was closed, no one around, the ' open' sign is off, there is no gate, no lock but the fruits are all outside of the shop. I wonder where would those fruits be if the shop is in Malaysia ? :)- You tell me ?

Naturalization process.
Yes, I am going to be American soon.
We went to homeland security on Tuesday (4/24/07), on the way, as usual like every time when we go to Jacksonville for immigration process, we always stop by St. Augustine and Jacksonville beaches.
